Gensalaam

Gensalaam

What Is Gensalaam?

Gensalaam is an outreach ministry of Grace Midtown. Each week, college students spend the afternoon playing games and building relationships with families and children in Clarkston-area apartment complexes.

Why Should I Be Involved In Gensalaam?

The Grace network of churches feels particularly called to serve and engage with Muslim communities. Gensalaam is a great way to join in that mission close to home, in the neighborhood of Clarkston, which is home to many refugees and immigrants from Muslim-majority countries. The name Gensalaam comes from the words Generation Salaam–salaam is a commonly used greeting from Arabic-speaking and Muslim countries.

Who Can Join the Ministry?

Gensalaam is comprised of college student volunteers who spend one afternoon each week in Clarkston, a neighborhood just east of Atlanta that is home to a diverse community of immigrants and refugees.

Where Is Gensalaam Held?

Gensalaam returns to the same housing area in Clarkston each week.

When Does Gensalaam Meet?

Students serve on Wednesday afternoons starting in September.

How Do I Get Started?

Meet at 1095 State Street at 4:45 pm on Wednesdays to carpool to Clarkston together. Wear jeans and shirts that cover your shoulders. If you want to learn more before going, email Jasmin.
