Fr. Mike Schmitz

The homily by Fr. Mike Schmitz is about the importance of being honest with ourselves and with God. He begins by talking about how we often hide our true desires from others, even from ourselves. He then discusses the importance of being honest with ourselves about our desires and our fears, especially as we prepare for the coming of Christ. He uses the example of the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” to illustrate how we often tell ourselves stories that are not true, and how we need to be careful about the stories we tell ourselves. He then discusses the importance of being honest with God about our true desires and our fears, even if they are not always pleasant. He uses the example of the story of the Prodigal Son to illustrate how God wants us to be honest with him about our true desires and our fears. He concludes by saying that we need to be honest with ourselves and with God in order to be prepared to see the Lord face to face.

Fr. Mike Schmitz also discusses the importance of being honest with ourselves about our own sinfulness. He uses the example of the story of the woman caught in adultery to illustrate how we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. He says that we need to be honest with ourselves about our sinfulness and to repent of our sins. He also says that we need to be honest with God about our need for forgiveness. He concludes by saying that we need to be honest with ourselves and with God in order to receive the forgiveness and mercy that we need.

Fr. Mike Schmitz also discusses the importance of being honest with ourselves about our own limitations. He uses the example of the story of the disciples who were afraid to go out and preach the gospel to illustrate how we all have our own limitations. He says that we need to be honest with ourselves about our own limitations and rely on God’s grace to help us overcome them. He also says that we need to be honest with God about our own need for his help. He concludes by saying that we need to be honest with ourselves and with God in order to receive the strength and courage that we need to live out our faith.

Fr. Mike Schmitz concludes his homily by saying that we need to be honest with ourselves and with God in order to be prepared for the coming of Christ. He says that we need to be honest about our desires, our fears, our sinfulness, and our limitations. He says that we need to be willing to reveal our true selves to God, even if it is not always pleasant. He says that we need to be willing to listen to what God has to say to us. He concludes by saying that if we are honest with ourselves and with God, we will be prepared to see the Lord face to face.

Cathedral of Christ The King

The homily by Fr. Gerardo Ceballos focuses on the importance of rejoicing in the Lord, even in the face of adversity. He emphasizes that true joy comes from our hope in the eternal promises of God, not from fleeting earthly pleasures. Fr. Ceballos draws parallels between the persecuted early Christians and the modern-day challenges we face, reminding us that our ultimate hope lies in the Kingdom of Heaven. He encourages the congregation to cultivate a deeper relationship with God through prayer and thanksgiving, emphasizing that this connection will bring true peace and joy that surpasses all understanding.

Fr. Ceballos highlights the importance of living out our faith in our daily lives, emphasizing that our actions should reflect the hope and joy we have in Christ. He uses the example of John the Baptist, who challenged his followers to live lives of charity and justice, as a model for us to emulate. Fr. Ceballos reminds us that true discipleship involves not just believing in God, but also actively living out our faith in our words and deeds. He encourages us to be signs of God’s love and compassion in the world, sharing our blessings with those in need and striving for justice and peace.

Fr. Ceballos emphasizes the importance of community and unity within the Church. He reminds us that we are all members of the Body of Christ and that we are called to support and encourage one another on our journey of faith. He encourages us to pray for our leaders, both within the Church and in our communities, that they may be guided by the Holy Spirit in their service to others. He also emphasizes the importance of caring for the sick and the vulnerable, and reaching out to those who are struggling.

Fr. Ceballos concludes his homily by urging the congregation to embrace the Advent season with joy and anticipation. He reminds us that the coming of Christ is not just a historical event, but a present reality that we can experience in our daily lives. He encourages us to prepare for the celebration of Christmas by deepening our relationship with God, living out our faith in our daily lives, and sharing the love and joy of the Gospel with others.

Trinity Anglican Church

Kris McDaniel begins by emphasizing the importance of community and encourages listeners to join a neighborhood group. He then highlights the significance of the Christmas pageant and expresses his gratitude for his pillow, humorously noting its unexpected popularity among his congregation.

The core of the sermon revolves around Luke 3, where John the Baptist confronts various groups – the self-assured, the repentant, the tax collectors, and the soldiers. McDaniel analyzes how John challenges each group to examine their lives and respond to the question, “What should we do?”

He points out that the self-assured often rely on their perceived status or privilege, neglecting their need for spiritual awakening. He then emphasizes the importance of “bearing fruits worthy of repentance,” which involves aligning our words and actions with our faith.

McDaniel further explores how different groups respond to the call to action. The crowd, facing scarcity, is encouraged to share their resources. The tax collectors, despite their reputation, are urged to resist the temptation of greed and seek contentment. The soldiers are challenged to use their power and position wisely and humbly.

Finally, McDaniel encourages listeners to identify their own “occupational hazards” – areas where their fears, insecurities, or desires for more might lead them astray. He emphasizes the importance of self-reflection and surrendering to God’s guidance.
