Baptism Preparation

What Is Baptism Preparation Like at Trinity Anglican?

Trinity offers baptism and Christian Foundations classes periodically throughout the year. In 2019, Trinity introduced a church-wide Alpha class which will serve as both the Baptism and Christian Foundations class for adults, and also more broadly as a class to explore questions of the Christian faith and what it might look like to engage in conversations about our faith. Alpha will take place for seven weeks, with weekly meetings over dinner and the same groups sitting together for the course of the class. Participation in Alpha is a requirement for adult baptism at Trinity, as well as for parents interested in infant-1st grade baptism or dedication. Other baptism preparation classes are offered for children in grades 2-5 (a weekend course at the church), and high schoolers (email your campus youth pastor for more information).

Why Should I Consider Baptism at Trinity?

Baptism in the Jordan River marked the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, and, similarly for Christians today it serves as a symbol of new life in Christ. As Jesus was crucified, died, and was resurrected, so too do Christians today die to their old life and rise to life in Christ, supported by the power of the Holy Spirit, which baptism symbolizes. Trinity is offering Alpha as an opportunity for anyone in the church to gather with others to discuss the fundamental questions of life and faith in a relaxed setting, both providing a place for those exploring Christianity to learn more and equipping baptized Christians to grow in their faith and engage in conversations with others about what they believe.

Who Takes Classes for Baptism at Trinity?

The Alpha class is open to everyone, with an emphasis on those exploring baptism and Christianity, those who want to engage in low-stakes conversations about their faith to be better equipped to share their faith in everyday life, and those who are new to Trinity and want to connect with others in the church throughout a 7-week class.
